Stories That Remain Untold (2015)
'Stories That Remain Untold' is a photographic project which documented abandoned buildings and their remaining contents within Ireland. Travelling around Ireland I captured long exposure images of homes, schools, workhouses, hotels, places once lived in, places once loved, places full of history, often with collections of personal possessions left behind bringing together a collection of photographs each of which hides its true past. Behind each of these images is an unknown history – a story that remains untold. Who lived here? Why did they leave? Where are they now? Where are their family? So many questions with so few answers. These unanswered questions are intriguing and leave us to create our own stories about what may have happened or what may have been. This work has inspired other artists to recreate some of these images as paintings and writers to create stories from memories invoked. Grant-aided by Meath County Council Arts Office
